How Astari payment wearables work
Astari wearables use passive NFC technology, the same core technology used inside contactless bank cards. Passive NFC means the wearable contains no battery and requires no charging. The payment chip activates only when brought close to a compatible payment terminal.
This is an important distinction. Payment wearables do not introduce a new payment system. Instead, they use the same contactless infrastructure, banking networks, tokenized payment technology, fraud protection systems, payment limits, and PIN verification rules as contactless bank cards.
The wearable changes the form factor. The security behind the payment remains the same.

Are contactless payment rings secure?
Yes. Contactless payment rings use secure tokenized payment systems similar to modern contactless bank cards. Tokenization means your wearable does not expose your actual bank card number during transactions. Instead, a secure digital payment token is used, helping protect sensitive payment information.
Payment wearables use the same trusted banking infrastructure, fraud protections, PIN rules, and contactless technology already used by modern payment cards. Astari wearables are also designed for intentional payments and only activate when intentionally held close to a compatible payment terminal.
For larger purchases, PIN confirmation is required, just as it would be when paying with a standard contactless card.
